Yes, ILikeBigButtons.com OPEN and Shipping! March 18 2020

Yes, I Like Buttons! OPEN and Shipping!

Yes, I Like Buttons! OPEN and Shipping!

We have gotten a few questions about if we are open and shipping during this time. The answer is YES! We are all healthy and safely tucked at home as we practice social distancing.

I Like Big Buttons! is a completely e-commerce based, family-run business. Since we don't have a physical storefront, we are able to continue our operations as usual. All our items are in stock and ready to ship. Items purchased before 3 pm PT will go out the next business day via our USPS scheduled morning pickup.

My presence on social media may slow, and I ask for your patience with that. I have just become a full-time homeschooling mom for the next 6 weeks, on top of my responsibilities at I Like Big Buttons!, being a full-time wife, and a full-time momma. As many of you know, I am a momma of many, which means lots of "Mom, Mom, Mom!" as the day goes long. Lots of "How do I do this?" and "What am I supposed to do next?" Our school district has been amazing and was able to send all my kiddos home with lots of work, both online and in packet form, to keep them active.

For support or product questions, please contact us at support@ilikebigbuttons.com. We check our email support constantly, but may only get to our social media pages a few times a day. Facebook doesn't always notify us that you have asked a question, so we may not see it in a timely manner.

Thank you,

Key Fob Lip Balm Holder by ILikeBigButtons.com December 10 2018

I have been admiring these Lip Balm Holders for some time and decided to today to make a few for my littles' Lip Balm and my Blistex. I love how they turned out!

Supplies:

1.  Cut a 15.5" x 2.25" piece of Cotton Fabric and Fusible Interfacing. These measurements will work for standard Lip Balm Tube and the standard Blistex Tube. You may need to adjust measures for your favorite lip product.

2.  Iron the Fusible Interfacing to the wrong side of your fabric.

3.  Fold right sides together width-wise and sew both long sides with a 1/4" seam. Do not sew short sides.

4.  Turn tube right side out through the open side, iron flat, and sew the open short side closed with a zig-zag stitch.

5.  Fold zig-zag side back on itself 1 1/4". Sew straight stitch 1/2" from the top, and again at 5/8" from the top. This is what it will look like from the back.

6.  Here is how the front turned out. This will be the front of the pocket on the Lip Balm Holder.

7.  Fold the tab that will be the front of the pocket at 2 3/4". Make sure the zig-zag stitch is hidden. Use Sewing Clips to hold front pocket in place while sewing. Stitch at 1/4" seam around the whole holder. And again at 1/8". Start and finish at the top edge so that your start and finish stitches will be hidden.

8.  Center the 1.25" Key Fob Hardware on the top edge of the Lip Balm Holder.

9.  Using Key Fob Hardware Pliers squeeze the Key Fob Hardware closed with gentle pressure.  Sometimes, I go back and forth from left to right added a little bit of pressure to each side until it eases together.  Our Key Fob Hardware Pliers make this easy to do. Make sure the teeth in the Key Fob Hardware are sunk securely into the fabric.

10.  Tada! These little Lip Balm Holders were easy to make and are great as a quick thoughtful gift for a loved one who hates chapped lips.

11.  Hang them on your keychain, the outside of your purse, or anywhere you need for quick access.

How to make Embroidered Ribbon Key Fob Hardware Wristlets

Today, I am making embroidered ribbon Key Fob Hardware Wristlets.  Just a couple weeks ago, my mom, sister and I had a girl's weekend at my home.  In between long rounds of talking and catching up (we talk every week by phone ;), eating good food, chasing kids, and being put to work.  They graciously volunteered to help me do some of the tedious day to day work for my business.  We snuck in some time to make a few Key Fob Hardware Wristlets for them.  Here are some examples of how they turned out.

Supplies:

Instructions:

1.  Cut a 10" section of the Cotton Webbing and Ribbon of your choosing.

Embroideried Ribbon Key Fob Hardware Tutorial pic3

2.  The ribbon I was using was made of polyester so I used a lighter to seal the ends of the ribbon so it doesn't fray.  (If you are unsure, you may want to practice on a scrap piece if this is your first time or you are unsure of the what the material is made of.)

  • If you would like (I didn't do it this time but have in the past): Cut a 10" section of Heat N Bond, keeping it thinner than your ribbon.

  • Iron the Heat N Bond to your Cotton Webbing, making sure to center it. This is not a necessary step but it makes it easier to sew the Ribbon on especially with embroidered ribbon.

  • Iron the Ribbon to the Cotton Webbing.

Embroideried Ribbon Key Fob Hardware Tutorial pic4

3.  Using my Standard Sewing Machine with Embroidery options, I picked the word I wanted on my ribbon and sewed it on my ribbon.  I folded my ribbon in half and estimated about where the letters would end up and came up with about 2 1/2" to 3" down to get the font centered on the Wristlet once finished.

4.  Use Fray Check to seal the end of the Cotton Webbing.

5.  I laid out my Ribbon and Rick Rack how I wanted it to look using my Wonder Clips.  Love them!

6.  Sew up one side of the Ribbon and down the other. The Ribbon should now be securely attached to the Cotton Webbing.

7.  Fold the Cotton Webbing in half, right sides facing out and match up the ends.

8.  Stitch the ends together with a 1/4" seam allowance.

9.  Trim any loose threads.

30 Days of Snaps!!! Day #27: How to make a Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps and Key Fob Hardware July 11 2014

Day #27

Making a Smart Phone Cover and Wristlet with KAM Snaps and Key Fob Hardware

Today's inspiration came to me as I was packing the kids up for a walk down the road to the neighbors to check out their yard sale and visit.  I thought I wish I had a case for my iPhone and a place to put a couple "just in case" dollars but instead I held my phone and tucked the money into my bra :P and headed out with all the kiddos in tow.  When I got home, I whipped this up.  I am prepared for next time :).

Supplies:

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps title pic

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic1

Instructions:

1.  Download the Smart Phone Case PDF Pattern.  Print out the pattern making sure the 1″ square in the corner measures 1″ square when printed that will indicate the pattern is the right size.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic2

2.  Cut out each Pattern piece as many times as instructed.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic3

3.  You will end up with:

2 pieces of Fabric/1 Interfacing (back)

2 pieces of Fabric/1 Interfacing (front)

2 piece of Fabric/1 Interfacing (pocket)

2 pieces of Fabric/1 Interfacing (lid)

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic4

4.  Iron the Interfacing onto a piece of Fabric for matching side making sure to iron it to the wrong side of the Fabric.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic5

5.  Place right sides of Fabric for Pocket together and sew 1/4" seam along the top of the piece.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic6

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic7

6.  Iron Fabric for the Pocket open and then over wrong sides together forming the Pocket face.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic8

7.  Take 1 of the 10" pieces of Ribbon and 1" Cotton Webbing and sew them together.  I stitched a straight line as close to the edge as possible on the Ribbon.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic9

8.  Take the 2 pieces of Fabric for the Lid/Lip of the case, put them right side together, and sew them with a 1/4" allowance.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic10

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic11

9.  Turn the Lid right side out and iron flat.  Fold in the bottom edge and stitch it closed.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic12

10.  Then take the Fabric (right side up), I am using more of those recycled holey jeans :), that will be the Back and place the Cotton Webbing/Ribbon strip (right side up) centered across it with just a bit of it hanging off the top edge.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic13

11.  Place the internal Back Fabric wrong side up.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic14

12.  Pin them together.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic15

13.  Stitch a 1/4" seam along the piece, back stitching to reinforce Cotton Webbing/Ribbon strip.  Cut away some of the excess Cotton Webbing/Ribbon if needed.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic16

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic17

14.  Iron back the Fabric and fold over, wrong sides together.  Now stitch a 1/4" seam allowance across the top of the Back piece.

15.  Now slide the Split Ring from the Key Fob Hardware on the Cotton Webbing/Ribbon Strip.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic19

16.  Now leave about 1" to 1 1/2" overlapped Cotton Webbing above the Back of the Case and pin the Cotton Webbing/Ribbon centered down the back of the Fabric.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic21

17.  Now stitch it in place down the back, with the internal Back out of the way, not as pictured, and I also stitched along the Cotton Webbing/Ribbon to gather the loop.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic22

18.  It will look like this.

19.  Center the Lid along the back, pin and sew with a 1/4" seam allowance.  This maybe should have been done a couple steps sooner so that I didn't have 2 stitch lines across the Back but I was when I got to it.

Smart Phone Case and Wristlet with KAM Snaps pic25

20.  Place the finished Front down right side up, I added a 1/4" top stitch to the top of each piece (Front, Pocket and Back).

Check them out! I hope you love them as much as I do!

Key Fob Hardware is simple to use and produces amazing results.  Just add your fabric, ribbon, or webbing for an instant, elegant wristlet.

Rubber tipped glass pliers or welding lock grip pliers work great for attaching this hardware.  Make sure they are padded or covered with tape to prevent scratching.

You can do it! See how easy it is with one of our step by step tutorials:
